Jen Morgan

Jen Morgan

Though she came to life as a professional artist after a career change, Jen Morgan was always destined to become an artist. Born into creativity, with a father behind the lens as a professional photographer and a mother painting with oils, Jen’s artistic inheritance was undeniable. From an early age, she knew: art wasn’t just in her hands, it was in her blood.

Jen charted her path with characteristic boldness, applying to just one university—East Carolina—because she knew it housed the best art school in the state where she was raised. She graduated in 1991 with a BFA in Graphic Design, but her education was far more expansive than a single concentration. She studied everything—photography, figure drawing, jewelry, textiles, pottery, architecture, interior design, glasswork, painting, art history—immersing herself in every possible medium with a voracious appetite for learning.

For over three decades, Jen built a wide-ranging career as a graphic designer, art director, and marketing manager, leaving her fingerprints on industries as varied as advertising, telecommunications, food distribution, health care, and beyond. When life shifted and she became a mother, she shifted too—moving into fitness and wellness, dedicating herself to personal training and coaching while always keeping the ember of her creative fire alive.

That ember reignited into full flame after a wet-felting workshop at The Wild Osprey in Mandeville, Louisiana. What began as an experiment soon became an obsession, and when Jen’s twins left for college in 2024, she embraced felting as her chosen medium with the passion of someone who had been preparing her whole life for this moment.

Today, Jen Morgan creates radiant 2D felted artworks that defy expectations of what wool and fiber can do. Using wet, Nuno, and needle felting, she builds luminous surfaces that she then hand-embellishes with embroidery, beadwork, mohair locks, and art yarns, creating dazzling layers of texture and dimension. Her work draws deeply on Louisiana’s landscape and culture, channeling the wild color, joy, and whimsy of the South into pieces that are at once tactile and ethereal.

She quickly gained Museum and critical acclaim, winning Best in Show at the RW Norton, and being selected for museum shows across the country.

Felted art is rare media in the American South—wool and heat don’t often mingle—but Jen delights in that contradiction. Each work is a celebration of surprise and delight, of play and curiosity, of color and form dancing together until they simply cannot help but make you smile. This is work you have to see in person to believe. Texture you'll want to touch, under the protection of museum quality materials.

Now based in Mandeville with her husband Michael, her two dogs Scout and Stella, and a home newly quiet with her twins off at college, Jen Morgan has found not just a medium but a voice—one that turns wool into wonder and fiber into fine art.
