Ariane Callender
Most people see color. Ariane feels it. In emotionally charged moments, hues bloom in her mind like instinct: crimson when she’s overwhelmed, electric teal when something just clicks. It’s not a metaphor. It’s how she navigates the world. This internal color synthesis is her creative compass, guiding abstract works that pulse with emotional memory and visual surprise.
Raised in New Orleans and now based in Seattle, Ariane blends intuition with precision through bold compositions, tactile layers, and unexpected palettes. Though self-taught, her process is shaped by her background in engineering. That analytical foundation doesn’t compete with her creativity—it powers it. A believer in STEAM, Ariane sees art, technology, and the sciences as inseparable forces informing her layered compositions and experimental approach.
She treats each piece as a kind of experiment—testing the friction between chaos and control, fluidity and restraint. With palette knives, molding paste, and sandpaper, she constructs emotional landscapes meant to be felt as much as viewed. Drawn to the beauty of nature, the vibrancy of culture, and her own experiences, her work calls on more than one influence —it lives in the overlap and asks the viewer to slow down, to feel, and maybe to see color in a way they never have before.
